Wide Variety of Applications to Demonstrate Capabilities of
Heidelberg Equipment
Chicago - Heidelberg will run more than 60 applications on
the show floor at PRINT '05 to demonstrate the quality,
performance and flexibility of its prepress, press and postpress
solutions. The applications will move throughout Heidelberg booth
#1200, beginning in the Prinect and prepress sections and ending in
the postpress area, where finished products ranging from greeting
cards to wine boxes will await booth visitors.
"Live demonstrations allow customers to experience
first-hand the quality and capabilities of Heidelberg equipment
before they make a purchase," said Clarence Penge, manager of
the Heidelberg Print Media Demonstration Center in Kennesaw, Ga.
"We will be demonstrating the full breadth and depth of our
solutions at PRINT '05 to help printers make informed and
successful business decisions."
Among the applications that Heidelberg will produce at PRINT
'05 are the following:
- Heidelberg Wine Box: Heidelberg's newest sheetfed press,
the Speedmaster XL 105, will produce the Heidelberg wine gift
box. The highly anticipated press sets new benchmarks for the
fastest makereadies, maximum real production speeds and highest
printing quality. The wine box will move from the press to the
Dymatrix for cutting and the ECO 105 for folding and gluing.
- "Recipes for the Passionate Printer" Cookbook:
Heidelberg's Prosetter Ctp will create the plates for the
cookbook job. The 58-page book, which includes a variety of
eclectic recipes for the "passionate printer," will be
printed on the Speedmaster SM 102. The cookbook then will head to
the Stahlfolder KH 82 for folding and the Stitchmaster ST 400 for
stitching.
- "Passion for Performance: A Look at America's Hot
Rods": This piece illustrates Heidelberg's passion for
performance. The book, which gives readers a visual tour of the
history of American cars, is set to print on the eight-color
Speedmaster CD 74 press with coater and will show off the
press' four-over-four job perfecting capability. The book
then will move to the Stahlfolder TH 66 for folding and the
Stitchmaster ST 400 for stitching.
- Print Media Demonstration Center (PMDC) Folder: A pocket
folder designed to introduce Heidelberg's state-of-the-art
33,000-square-foot PMDC in Kennesaw, Ga. will be printed on the
six -color Speedmaster SM 74 press. The folder will be treated
with an aqueous coating during the printing process. It then will
move to the KAMA for die-cutting and foil stamping.
- Recipe and Holiday Greeting Cards: Heidelberg recipe cards
will be printed on the Quickmaster QM DI. In addition to
providing recipes for tasty treats, this job will show the
benefits of the press' new oscillating form roller.
Four-color holiday greeting cards will be produced on a two-color
Printmaster QM 46. Both jobs will be finished on the POLAR 78.
- Wine Brochure: To highlight the benefits of satin screening,
plates for the wine brochure job will be produced by the
Prosetter 102 Imagesetter with satin screening technology. The
brochure will be printed by the eight-color Speedmaster SM 52
with perfector. The four-color piece will travel to the POLAR
115X and Stahlfolder B 20 for finishing.
- Sticker: The Suprasetter Ctp imagesetter will be used along
with the new Saphira Chemfree thermal plates to produce the
sticker. The Speedmaster SM 52-D then will print and diecut the
sticker in-line. This job also uses Metal-FX technology and runs
UV inks.
