Heidelberg Introduces New Prinect Products for Use with CtP Systems for Small-Format Work
09/22/2006
Heidelberg, Germany - Heidelberger Druckmaschinen AG (Heidelberg)
has introduced a special version of its Prinect MetaDimension RIP
system for small-format work that can be combined with the new
Heidelberg Suprasetter A52 CtP thermal imagesetter. Prinect
MetaDimension 52i is also available for the Prosetter P52 violet
CtP systems.
Prinect MetaDimension 52i comes in a package with the new
Prinect Imposition Editor for imposing PDF pages. That offers a
comprehensive range of functions for setting up and imaging imposed
sheets.
"Many small print shop owners want a cost-effective
means of achieving an integrated print shop workflow that uses
cutting-edge technology to manage their standard processes
efficiently, without all functions needing to be fully automated.
Our new Prinect tools are the Heidelberg response to these
customers' needs," explains Jörg Bauer, Head of Prinect
Product Management at Heidelberg.
Like all Heidelberg RIPs, Prinect MetaDimension 52i too is
based entirely on Adobe technology. As a result, it enables
flexible import and output of PostScript and PDF documents. The
user has a wide range of options, for example connections for
true-color proofs on several inkjet proof printers, for trapping,
color management, and generating CIP4 PPF data for presetting
presses. As an alternative to the highly automated MetaDimension
systems, this new version extends the range with a cost-effective
and yet high-performance RIP designed specifically for small-format
work.
The Acrobat plug-In Prinect Imposition Editor offers the user
a comprehensive selection of functions that can be used to
imposition PDF documents in Acrobat. These include setting up the
page format, various folding layouts, definitions for print sheets
and paper formats, and also the handling of marks and information
text. The imposition settings can be saved in JDF format and reused
for reprints or as templates for new jobs. The Prinect Imposition
Editor creates a fully imposed PDF sheet with all marks and
information needed image plates using Prinect MetaDimension 52i. To
further increase functionality and automation, this package can be
enhanced with the Prinect Signa Station impositioning workstation,
which ensures high throughput for all applications and formats.
